It is important to polish jewelery regularly so that it stays beautiful for as long as possible. All stones and especially diamonds lose their luster if they are dirty or if the surface is coated with grease. Ingrained dirt on jewelry, e.g. on the inside of a ring or on the back of an earring, can also irritate the skin or even cause inflammations. You can clean your jewelry yourself according to the following instructions. In this way, you keep your jewelry beautiful and shiny for several years without any major measures.
Rings and earrings
Of all jewellery, rings are the ones most exposed to dirt and wear. We deal daily with e.g. foodstuffs, skin creams and cosmetics, consequently dirt and impurities accumulate on the inside of the ring, under the stones or on the surface of the ring. Therefore, the rings should be cleaned carefully from time to time. We always recommend that you remove the rings when washing your hands, showering, sleeping, before working in the garden, when cooking and cleaning, etc. You should never use rings or jewelery in water, especially not plated jewellery, silver jewelery or jewelery with stones as they are more sensitive to water. One should especially avoid chlorinated pools and water with a high salt content as this can damage the material. If this has been done, the jewelery should be rinsed off with fresh water and dried afterwards.
Even earrings are exposed to various chemicals, e.g. styling products, as well as the skin's own secretions. Therefore, even earrings get dirty quickly. We recommend that you clean your earrings regularly and that you always take them off at night.
You can clean your rings and earrings with a soft polishing cloth for e.g. glasses or similar. You can also wash them carefully with water and detergent. If they are very dirty, you can use e.g. an old (soft) toothbrush and regular washing-up liquid. Make a solution of warm water and washing-up liquid in a small container and wash gently with your fingers. If the jewelery is very dirty, you can clean it carefully with a toothbrush dipped in the detergent solution. Do not forget the cleaning of the inside, any decorative perforations and folds, under the stones, etc. Then rinse the jewelry carefully under running water and dry with paper towels or a soft piece of cloth.
Charms, necklace, brooches and bracelet
Even if the above-mentioned jewelry does not usually get dirty as easily in daily use as rings and earrings, you should still clean them occasionally. The cleaning method is the same as for cleaning rings and earrings.
Storage of jewelry
The best storage place for jewelry you don't use is a jewelry box or a real jewelry box where your jewelry is protected from scratches and dirt and where you can easily find them when you want to use them. However, jewelery is above all made to be used, so we hope that your dear jewelery spends as little time as possible in a jewelery box.
Use of jewelry
Remember to be careful with your jewelery so that it stays beautiful for a long time. There are a number of easy things to avoid to avoid damaging your rings:
Do not lift heavy objects when using your rings, e.g. bags, tables etc. also remember not to do strength training or the like as the rings can easily be deformed. This applies especially to silver rings and gold rings, as silver and gold are a soft material. This is especially important if your ring has stones, as stones can come loose if the ring is exposed to pressure.
Also remember to always avoid contact with water if you want your jewelery to stay beautiful for as long as possible. This applies to all rings to some extent, but above all plated rings and rings with stones. Always remove your rings when you wash your hands, shower, bathe or wash dishes, this way your rings will be beautiful and retain their stones for a long time.
