If you look closely at how the amulet on the bracelet looks, you can see a circle, a wheel or a rotating sign with six rays that rotate with the sun in a certain direction. The word "colo" denotes a circle (sun), rotation. This solar talisman symbolizes the constant rotation of the sun. The endless cycle of death and birth. The continuous movement of life, given and taken by the gods.
The symbol also denotes the infinity of life on earth, the change of day and night, of cold and heat, of darkness and light.
The sacred meaning of the symbol is hidden in the mystery of the movement of light through the sky, even the gods Svarog and Horsa are connected to the sun. In ancient times, it was believed that life continued due to the constant movement and rotation of the sun. The Kolovrat symbol symbolizes the movement of the sun, which visually shows how the main noble Slavic mythical gods Perun, Svarog and Dazhbog interact. The symbol also has other names: the Amulet of Svarog, the Mascot of Veles, Leten, Yarilo, Dazhdbog, Horsa. In fact, all these are the names of the revered god of the Sun.
Kolovrat jewelry was not only beautiful ornaments. Like all Slavic pagan jewelry, they had a sacred meaning and served as protection for those who wore them - amulets. They contained natural elements such as: earth, fire, water, air and seasons. In general, all these elements represented eight rays of the talisman. Amulets with the Kolovrat symbol gave spiritual strength and protection to its owner.
Number of rays in Kolovrat
The symbol of the amulet is quite complex as it can accommodate several pairs of rays.
It is not accidental. A certain number of rays has its own meaning.
8 rays denote the strength of the solar flame.
4 rays symbolize fire.
6 rays give the owner the protection of the god Perun.
Clockwise or counter-clockwise?
The amulet may have rays directed towards a certain side.
Clockwise means: together with the path of the sun.
Anti-clockwise means: towards one's way.
Depending on the effect the person wanted, he chose his own Kolovrat necklace. The necklace with the direction of the radiation together with the path of the sun symbolizes the connection with the world of the light gods, purity of thoughts and intentions, peace and gave protection and patronage of the Slavic mythological gods.
