This beautiful handmade Viking jewelry in the form of Thor's Hammer with the 24 Old Norse runes around it which originates from about 200 years after Christ. This Viking bracelet is a piece of history in itself.
The rune line that was mainly used in divination is the Old Norse 24 rune futhark which arose around 200 years after Christ. It is called futhark because the first 6 runes form the word futhark; feh, ur, thurs, ass, reid and ken.
The purpose of the runes was mainly to record various things but also for divination and spells. Divination with runes is an ancient tool that has close contact with our ancestors and their traditions.
One way of divination is to put three runes in a row; one for past, present and future. A rune for each Norn; Urd, Verdandi and Skuld. Norns are goddesses of fate in Old Norse mythology. According to the myth, they live at the Urdabrun, which is at the roots of the World Tree Yggdrasil. They symbolize man's birth, life, death and destiny. The three goddesses of fate weave the destiny of man in the following way:
Urd Represents destinies and the past, she spins the thread in the web of life. She has to do with birth and the past.
Verdendi stands for being and the present, she spins the thread in the web of life.
Guilt stands for the future, it tears the thread from the fabric of life and has to do with death.
No one can see or has ever seen their faces, no one knows whether they are young, old, beautiful or ugly.
The runes are divided into three different families;
Freya's clan: Feh, Ur, Thurs, Ass, Reid, Ken, Gebo and Wynja.
Heimdal's house: Hagal, Naud, Iss, Jara, Eoh, Pertha, Algiz and Sol.
Tyr's family: Tyr, Bjarka, Eih, Madr, Lagu, Ing, Dagaz and Odal.
Note! the runes can be spelled in different ways.
