The Triquetra is a pagan symbol just like the Valknut (warrior's knot), a symbol of Odin. It symbolizes Odin's power by which he could bind or loose (a man's memory) so that he was helpless in battle, he could also dissolve the tensions and strains of fear and make them fearless and filled with battle madness through his gifts: berserk walking, intoxication and inspiration.

The triquetra symbol is sometimes also called the Celtic knot and can be found in Celtic mythology. The symbol is often represented on rune stones and was an important religious symbol for the Vikings. Because of its similarities to the Valknut, it has been suggested that the Triquetra, like the Valknut, was a symbol of Odin, Asagård's most powerful God.
According to mythology, Odin is said to have subjected himself to all the torments of the death rite.
He is said to have pierced himself with his own spear to experience visions and wisdom for nine days. In this way, he learned to master magical skills that allowed him to heal diseases, calm storms and turn women into lovesick creatures, etc.
These nine days are also connected with Norse mythology's belief in the nine worlds from which the Valknut symbol originates.

Triquetra is a word formed from the Latin tri- ("three") and quetrus ("cornered").
Originally the word meant "triangle". Today it denotes a specific symbol formed by three interlacing arcs, sometimes combined with a circle.
The sign symbolizes eternity through the braided shape and encloses the triangle of eternity in the middle.
The triquetra symbol stands for trinity and the number three is an ancient magical number that we often use in everyday life as the saying: all good things are three or one, two, three.
We also measure time in three forms: present, past and future.

This symbol can also be found on runic inscription U 937. This rune stone stands today with a number of other Upland rune stones in the University Park in Uppsala. Originally, the rune stone comes from the Funbo parish. The runic loop has the shape of a runic snake where the inscription starts at the tail and ends at the head of the round animal. The ornament in the middle of the carving surface is a Triquetra, also called the trinity symbol.
